The country’s annual inflation rate rose to two per cent in October — up from 1.6 per cent the previous month. The latest Statistics Canada report also shows gasoline prices — on an annual basis — fell to a lesser extent in October compared with September. Rent prices rose 7.3 per cent from a year ago, down from an 8.2 per cent annual gain in September. Meanwhile, grocery prices increased faster last month, rising 2.7 per cent from a year ago. The annual inflation rate in PEI in October was 1.3 per cent, up from an even 1.0 per cent in September.
