MLA, Minister of Finance for the Province of PEI

Jill was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for District 6, StratfordKeppoch, on April 3, 2023, and appointed Minister of Finance on April 14, 2023.
Raised in Souris as the daughter of teachers, Jill developed a strong work ethic, spending her summers on a small family farm in East Point. Her career in surveying took her to Saskatchewan and Alberta, where she began working in the field on various projects before advancing to lead projects. Later, she transitioned into business development, fostering key client relationships. In 2013, Jill and her husband Brian returned to Stratford, PEI, where they established a branch office of their western company and made a home with their two children.
A retired professional land surveyor, Jill made history as the first woman to be commissioned as a land surveyor in Saskatchewan. She completed her studies in Urban and Rural Planning Technology at Holland College and in Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering at the University of New Brunswick. While at UNB, Jill also earned a complementary diploma in Technology Management & Entrepreneurship through the Dr. J. Herbert Smith Centre.
Jill’s commitment to community service includes her tenure on the Stratford Council, where she chaired the Planning, Heritage and Development, the Community Campus Committees, and served as Vice Chair of the Finance and Infrastructure Committees. She was also Co-Chair of the Stratford High School Planning and Construction Committee and Chair of SHAPE Stratford, a CMHC initiative aimed at advancing affordable housing in the region. During her time in municipal service, Jill furthered her expertise with certifications in Strategic Alignment from Dalhousie University and Climate Leadership from the University of Waterloo.
