Executive Director of L’neuy

Jenene comes from a long line of hereditary and elected Chiefs. She is a proud Mi’kmaq and member of Abegweit First Nation.
She currently serves as Executive Director of L’nuey – the Epekwitk Mi’kmaq Rights Initiative which works to protect and implement Mi’kmaq rights and has specific focus on consultations, negotiations and governance development.
She was named one of the top 25 most powerful women in business by Atlantic Business Magazine in 2021. She is the founder of Segewa’t Consulting. Jenene received designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2022. Jenene is author of Living Full Circle and has written many articles on Indigenous issues across Canada featured on CBC, ICD Director’s Journal and Saltwire. She received a number of awards for her work and contributions sharing and preserving Mi’kmaq rights, culture and heritage on Prince Edward Island (Epekwitk), including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2023 and the Provincial Heritage Recognition Award in 2024.
Jenene is passionate about protecting Indigenous rights, amplifying marginalized voices, supporting women, promoting equity and improving governance structures.
