The Prince County Hospital Foundation has announced a $7 million investment from the Federal Government to support the development of a new multi-use facility. It will be constructed on a parcel of land recently acquired by the Foundation adjacent to Prince County Hospital. The new facility will support the PEI Family Medical Residency Program, offering both teaching and housing spaces for residents and medical learners as well as other healthcare workers. Officials say a key feature of the facility will be its simulation space, which will be available for use by UPEI’s Faculty of Medicine, PCH staff, as well as a variety of external groups who require specialized training facilities. The total cost of the project is estimated to be $25 million, with the PCH Foundation actively exploring additional funding opportunities to meet the goal. The Foundation received a $10 million commitment from the Province at the Grass Roots and Cowboy Boots hospital fundraiser this past fall.
